The San Diego Regional Task Force on Homelessness (RTFH) hosted its first annual Conference on Homelessness in early December. With a focus on “Solutions for San Diego,” the event gathered stakeholders, people working in the field, and anyone with an interest in reducing homelessness, in one place for two full days of learning, discussion, and collaboration framed around the CoC Regional Action Plan to address homelessness.
The program included the presentation of awards to grassroots leaders doing amazing work in their jobs and communities and elevating solutions to address the issues in the San Diego area. Eighteen members of the San Diego Rescue Mission (San Diego, California) programs team attended the event and Paul Armstrong, VP of programs, shared his feedback.
“Because frontline staff don’t often get to attend conferences, it allowed for the opportunity to interact in-person with people they regularly email and call, as well as expand and improve their skill sets. They enjoyed valuable networking and a chance to gain perspective from the larger arena of homeless services, including organizations that rely heavily on government contracts.”
