Accommodations That Think Outside the Box

Revive 66 Campground offers a safe and comfortable night’s stay in one of 52 lockable vintage-style campers. In cooperation with the city of Springfield, Missouri, the site opened in 2021 with a dozen campers, and continues to grow thanks to donations. The gate opens from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. the next morning and welcomes guests on a first-come, first-served basis.

Operating as an entity of The Gathering Tree, Inc., the non-profit 501(c)(3) gated campground also includes laundry facilities, showers, coffee, and snacks, and caters to individuals experiencing homelessness. The Gathering Tree also operates Eden Village as a tiny home community geared toward ministering to the same population.

The Revive 66 website encourages people to volunteer and even donate to sponsor a camper for an evening ($10), a week ($70), or a month ($300). As the first fully solar-powered RV park in the U.S., Revive 66 Campground provides a camper to the first 52 people in line when they open, and those who can pay the fee, do so. Those who can’t afford the $10 charge rely on the donations collected by the nonprofit to help keep the campground running.
