Due to the recent crackdown on Medicaid fraud in Arizona, more than 100 unlicensed sober living homes have had their services suspended. Subsequently, Navajo law enforcement teams have discovered several hundred Native Americans living on the streets in the Phoenix area.
A good number of these recently unhoused tribal members have accepted offers to temporarily stay in motel rooms or other short-term housing until they can find accommodations at more permanent licensed facilities. Others have returned to their homes on reservations in the wake of the closures. Tribal law enforcement teams continue to work with local police agencies throughout the state, as well as local Phoenix nonprofit, Community Bridges, to offer services for those struggling with addictions.
The 300+ organizations in Citygate Network membership seek to move people in desperate situations and destitute conditions (i.e., hungry, homeless, abused, and addicted) from human suffering to human flourishing through the process of gospel-powered life transformation.
