Position Title: Director of Community Life - Shelters Reports to: Sr. Director of Community Life Job Classification: Full-time, Exempt Salary Range: $72,600 - $96,800

At multiple locations throughout our community, we help restore the lives of people experiencing homelessness and addiction through emergency services, rehabilitation, transitional programs, and community outreach. The Opportunity: The Director of Community Life (DCL) will provide management, direction, and oversight to Shelter Services at Denver Rescue Mission (DRM) facilities. The DCL is responsible for maximizing the space in which shelter services are provided. This position will work closely with the Sr. Director and Directors of Community Life across the continuum of our organization.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to: •The Director of Community Life will foster a culture in alignment with DRM’s mission and community life’s unique stance. This position will provide an emphasis in creating a safer, secure, sanitary, social and serene environment for DRM facilities. •Manage the Shelter staff with hiring, onboarding, training, performance, conflict resolution, schedules, payroll and time off requests. •Under the direction of the Sr. Director, this position will create and oversee the shelter budget(s), expenditures, variances, invoices, etc. •Promote good communication across all DRM departments as they intersect the Shelter space (Homeless Resolution Team, Operations, Volunteer Department, etc.). •Manage and assure compliance with grants/contracts/MOU’s, and relationships that impact Community Life at the Shelter(s) to include HOST partnerships, internal/external personnel, the public, etc. •Under the direction of the Sr. Director and in collaboration with other Community Life Directors, this position will create, disseminate, maintain, and assure compliance with Community Life procedures. •Ensure maximum efficiency of Shelter resources to include but not limited to: bed capacity, staff capacity, physical resources and inventory control. •Under the direction of the Sr. Director and in coordination with the Community Life Director Team, this position will identify opportunities for improvement, will design interventions, and will implement and evaluate the efficacy of interventions. •Under the direction of the Sr. Director, this position will work with the internal staff and the external public to ensure a collaborative engagement as it relates to the services that impact the shelter site. •Represent DRM at meetings and committees as directed by the Sr. Director. •Other duties as assigned.
Minimal Qualifications: •Bachelor’s degree in business, education, human services or a related field required. Will consider equivalent work experience in lieu of degree. Master’s degree preferred! •Previous experience in a related field of endeavor preferred. •Identified candidate must affirm DRM’s ‘statement of faith’ and abide by the employee handbook. •Supervisory experience with the ability to manage, develop, and train staff residents. •Must possess a heart for ministry to low-income populations and be able to maintain appropriate personal and professional boundaries. •Strong computer and technology skills with the MS Office suite (word, outlook, excel) and with proprietary and standard databases. •Must be a self-starter who is highly organized, able to prioritize and be highly flexible and adaptable. Must be willing to accept feedback to be successful in this position.
SCHEDULE: •In this position, you must be willing to provide onsite oversight 40-hours; 5-days per week. This will include a schedule devoted to hours when the Community Life team is experiencing its highest acuity. Specifically, 2 shifts per week will be from 6:00pm – 9:00pm. Additionally, 2-shifts will include 6:00am – 9:00am or weekend hours. •Must be willing to participate in weekend/Holiday and on-call schedules in working with other Community Life Directors and the Sr. Director.
