If you run a start-up mission, this course is a must!

Tour Group 1: Dallas Trail Missions
Meet: Landmark Circle
Mission tours are always a popular aspect of our conventions. This year we are offering the opportunity to see four missions. The two in this time slot are Union Gospel Mission (UGM) of Dallas and Dallas LIFE. (You can see Union Gospel Mission of Tarrant County and Beautiful Feet Ministries on Saturday afternoon.)

The group will be divided in half for simultaneous tours, and then the groups will switch missions. [Lunch will be provided at both locations.] UGM Dallas has multiple separated campuses, and because of time constraints, the tour will focus on their Center of Hope, serving women and children.

Dallas LIFE operates the largest homeless shelter in North Texas, serving men, women, children, seniors, disabled individuals, and veterans, and has a 10-month Homeless No More recovery program.
Getting Settled

1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
CEOs-Only Exhibit Exhibit Corral Steel-Tipped Boot Tour
Marsalis Hall
Even though exhibitors won’t be fully finished setting up, we’re urging the ultimate decision makers to get a first look at all of the exhibits and meet our business partners. (You might even be able to lend them a hand in their final prep.) We have the highest number of exhibitors in AGRM history, so getting in an early run through the Exhibit Corral will enable you to make a list of must-visit exhibits for the rest of your staff. Just watch where you step.

1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Strong Tower Prayer Room Open
Bryan Beeman B
Host: Jaye Beatty
Experience the presence of the Lord in a unique way as you enter this quiet place and ponder brokenness, protection, healing, guidance, and more. At various stations, Scripture will be brought to life using art, music, illustrations, and other elements. The Strong Tower Prayer Room will be open at various times throughout the convention. And right next door in Bryan Beeman A, you’ll find our Spiritual Life Suite staffed by Minister-at-Large Robert Loggins and members of AGRM’s intercessory prayer team. Just drop in. Or if you prefer, make an appointment to meet with Pastor Loggins via a text message to (573) 301-7439.

1:30 p.m. – 2:15 p.m.
First-Timers Orientation
Pegasus
Sponsor: Merriam Insurance Agency
Hosts: Selena Hayle, Ivan Klassen, Anthony Cooper
If this is your first AGRM Annual Convention, you gotta attend this session to find out what’s when, who’s where, and why it’s important. It’s a fast-paced time with a lot of laughter, a number of giveaways, and a little bit of competition. Come meet other first-timers and leave feeling like you’re in charge of things.

3:00 p.m. – 5:15 p.m. (Doors open at 2:40 p.m.)
Wednesday Afternoon General Session
Landmark Ballroom B-D
Platinum Sponsor: Brewer Direct
Our all-group gatherings are famous for from-the-floor networking, videos, rejuvenating music, and inspirational speakers. This year we are adding chaplain homilies, recordings of spiritual leaders from various rescue missions giving their testimonies and insights. On stage tonight will be the always popular, always relevant Bill Butterworth. On stage all this week will be the upbeat band of brothers, Two or More, with their catchy Latin-American sound.

5:15 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Chisholm Trail Dinner in the Exhibit Corral
Marsalis Hall
We’re eating dinner cowboy style tonight in the Exhibit Corral. The bean pot is over the open fire, and the cook has plenty of hot biscuits. Some gentle six-string strumming is going on. Come eat, mingle, and meet people—other members and exhibitors—who can make a difference in your life and ministry. You’ll find plenty of tables in Marsalis Hall and Foyer so you don’t have to amble and eat at the same time (unless you want to). And make sure you get to know the hosts in the special aprons. They’re good cowpokes who can help you out.

1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Strong Tower Prayer Room Open
Bryan Beeman B

7:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Landmark B–D

The night’s still young! Dessert will be served—along with a hilarious helping of fun. We’ll first gather by districts and get to know who’s attending from your part of the continent. Then we’ll all come together for some Minute-to-Win-It-style competitions. Put on your district team T-shirt (provided on-site) and join the frivolity. Folks will be laughing about this night throughout the entire convention.

Thursday Morning General Session
Landmark Ballroom B-D
Gold Sponsor: Douglas Shaw and Associates
We’re varying our approach to general sessions this morning with not one but two excellent presenters, both doing a TED-Talk style presentation to fit our theme and objectives. Both Greg Jao and Shirley Hoogstra are national ministry leaders with their fingers on the pulse of important segments of our population. There is so much to learn from them. You’ll also hear presentations from the Word, including a couple of chaplain homilies. And we’ll still have our famous from-the-floor networking, plus music from Two or More.

12:15 p.m. – 2:15 p.m. (Lunch served 12:30 p.m. – 1:15 p.m.)
Lunch at the Exhibit Corral
Marsalis Hall
The Exhibit Corral is always the best place for networking, and with so many exhibits, you’re likely to find a lot of new products and services you don’t yet know you need. Check in with reps from companies that are already serving you. See what’s new. A lot of folks use Exhibit Corral time to debrief on things they’ve heard earlier in the day. Come join the crowd and grab some lunch too. (The dessert part of lunch will be included with the networking time that follows.)

2:15 p.m. – 3:15 p.m.
Profession-Focused Networking
Landmark Ballroom and Marsalis Hall
Over dessert, meet the people who do what you do at other missions. Some of the longest-lasting relationships in rescue mission ministry are made during these special times.

Stay in Marsalis or move to Landmark, depending on what group you are in. Look for your group’s easel or check on the large screens in Landmark to see where in the room your peers are located. Grab dessert and join the conversations. After it looks like your group has assembled, feel free to move to other common space in the hotel such as the lobby, Coffee’s Post, or even outside if you want different surroundings. (Just leave a note on your easel so latecomers know where to find you.)

Independent Networking and Special Events
We’ve left Friday evening open to give you a chance to spend concentrated time with old or new friends you haven’t been able to get enough of up to this point. Additionally, some of our business partners use this time to meet and eat with their clients and prospects. You’re on your own to enjoy Dallas. If you don’t know where to go, ask the hotel concierge for recommendations. (The AGRM staff is partial to the restaurants in the West End Historic District, about a 10-minute walk from the Hyatt. You’ll find something there to accommodate any appetite or budget.) Wherever your plans take you, be sure to be back at the Hyatt for the screening of Same Kind of Different as Me that begins sharply at 8:00 p.m.

5:45 p.m. – 7:45 p.m.
Donors at Dealey Plaza
Those who financially supported AGRM in 2016 at the Pearl (personal) and Limestone (organizational) levels or higher are invited to have dinner with AGRM President John Ashmen and his wife, Judi, at the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza. Following dinner and some brief remarks, the museum will be open to the attendees.

8:00 p.m. – 10:15 p.m.
Same Kind of Different as Me Screening
Landmark Ballroom D
Hosts: Mark P. Fisher and Ron Hall
Thanks to permission from Paramount and Pure Flix, we will show the movie in its entirety to our 2017 Annual Convention attendees. You’ve heard about it for so long; now you have a chance to see it. With A-list stars, this movie—based on a story that unfolded at Union Gospel Mission of Tarrant County right here in the Dallas-Fort Worth area—is scheduled to be released in theaters October 20. We believe it has the potential to show thousands of people the power of rescue missions to change lives. A brief Q&A about how to make the most of the movie when it comes to your city will follow the screening.
Please leave smart phones or any recording devices in your room. If proctors see smart phones, tablets, or cameras during the showing, they could be confiscated. This is to prevent all copyright infringement possibilities.

Annual Business Meeting

Host: Jim Reese
This last official meeting—required by the association’s bylaws—will open up AGRM’s books and reports to members. Led by Board Chair Jim Reese, we will discuss in detail the specifics of what happened in various areas over the past year, and where exactly AGRM will be spending its time and resources in the days ahead. Come and ask questions. Members have a say.

11:15 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Tour Group 2: Fort Worth Trail Missions
Meet: Landmark Circle Doors
If you’re thinking of heading home and not checking out these two member missions in Cowtown, change your mind right now! Union Gospel Mission of Tarrant County has an amazing campus in an area that—thanks to the mission—recently won Most Improved Texas Neighborhood. This is also the place where the story in Same Kind of Different as Me unfolded. The mission campus features three separate buildings serving men, women, and families with children, plus an excellent medical clinic and donation warehouse.
The other stop will be Beautiful Feet Ministries. Their creativity is off the charts. The campus—which has a historic church at its center—is a gathering place for youth groups from across the continent. Their buses and vans are always on the go, reaching deep into the city. Lunch will be provided.
